Matilda*; my beloved novel ever.

Matilda is a name of the book written by Roald Dahl. It is a story about a five-years-old child named Matilda Wormwood. She is a sign of genius. She can write her own name when she was only 6 months, speaks when she was 1 years old and read a novel when she was only 3. But her parents care just a little about her brilliant brain. They all hate to read books. So, they encourage Matilda to watch the television instead of reading books. Matilda has got a lazy fat brother named Michael. And her parents seem to love him more than Matilda.

Matilda hates watching television. Instead of sitting on the sofa and watches TV, she chooses to walk to the public library and read the books. So that when she starts school, she is very much the intellectual superior of everyone else. After witnessing Matilda's great intellect in the classroom, her friendly teacher, Jennifer Honey, appeals to have Matilda moved up, but Agatha Trunchbull, the evil headmistress refuses Miss Honey’s petition. Furthermore, Miss Honey is horrified by how unpleasant Matilda's parents are when she turns up at their house to suggest she prepares for university because of her intelligence.

Throughout the story, Miss Trunchbull seems to believe intimidation is the best method of teaching. She says her idea of a perfect school would be "one in which there were no children at all." The Trunchbull stops short of beating the children with her riding crop, but only because it's by now illegal; she often voices regret that she is no longer able to punish the children in this fashion. She generally punishes them because she feels like it, ploughing straight through children so that they "bounce off her feet like footballs", makes regular visits to classes to show the teachers a few tips on discipline, throws students out of windows and locks them in a small hole in the wall called the "chokey." She also exploits students' weaknesses, like making them eat a whole chocolate cake. To make matters worse for Matilda, Miss Trunchbull has bought a second hand car that barely works but APPEARS in good shape from Matilda's father's car company and takes out her rage at Matilda's father on Matilda, while acknowledging that he was "right" to warn her about how badly-behaved his daughter apparently is.

But not so long time after that, Matilda recognizes that she is a psychic. And the only one who knows that she is a psychic is Miss Honey. She uses her power to investigate the death of Miss Honey’s father named King Magnus. The fact is, Miss Trunchbull killed him. Matilda takes a revenge for her beloved teacher by pretending to be a spirit of King Magnus by using her psychokinetic power. The plan does work, Miss Trunchbull moves out and Matilda lives with Miss Honey happily forever.

This is one of my all time favorite novels. I love Roald Dahl’s achievement. I bought both English and Thai version of his books. I want you all readers to read this book once, and you’ll say that this story is incredible!
